Today's post is a lesson in preparation, goodness in this world and listening to ones' wife (especially when she's the more 'grounded' one 😛 ).
So yesterday, I was driving back from my day job.
All of a sudden the car stops putters and stops.
Right in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway.
At peak hour.
And near one of the most busiest intersections.
I tried cranking the car, but realised that it had run out of petrol.
This is even though the 'petrol low' light hadn't come on, and the fuel to empty reading said 35 KM to go.
Had a few angry commuters honk and speed off past me.
Finally one man, out of the hundreds, got out of his car and asked if he could help me.
The good samaritan helped push the car over to the side street.
I thanked him profusely.
Wish I had gotten his name and some details to send him a thank you.
But my prayer as I walked the 1 or so kilometers to the petrol station was that he would be blessed for his unselfish act of kindness.
It also reminded me that there are amazing people in this world.
Now all this probably could have been avoided if I had had listened to my wife who had asked me if I needed to fill fuel the day before.
Me being the eternal optimist said, nah, she'll be right.
I trusted the fuel gauge a bit too much.
A bit of preparation and pre-empting would have saved me about 60 minutes of time.
So where does The Success Principles come in?
Well I'd been listening to Jack Canfield's audiobook of the same title.
Just before the car stopped he was talking about taking 100% responsibility for all experiences and results.
It made me think.
If I had had listened to my wife, prepared and filled fuel, all that would have not happened.
So my friend, take 100% responsibility, prepare, and know that there are great people in the world around us.
Listen to your wife (or husband) if they are the more 'grounded' person. 🙂
Have you had similar experiences?
Do you believe that the world is a much better place than is portrayed?
Let me know in the comments below.
Have a great day.
